“[Being an artist is] being a rock-star, it’s being a doctor, it’s all of that. I like to do a little bit of everything, so if we wanted to sit down and do a piece that was us being electricians for a year, then we would do that. If I wanted to become a lawyer and represent a friend in a divorce trial, then I could do that.”

Ishan Clemenco studied music at the American Society of Eastern Arts, Center for World Music, Berkeley then at San Jose State University, San Jose then he started private composition residencies with Lou Harrison (!!!!!) then he studied with Anne Waldman at the Naropa Institute, all within two years of each other. That’s a level of efficiency you could learn from.

Ishan’s held solo exhibitions at smART, Munich, Germany; Takada Gallery, San Francisco; and numerous group shows including Bansai/Godzilla: Japanese Influences in American Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artist Gallery, San Francisco; Steirischer Herbst 03, Graz, Austria. In 2008 Ishan participated in Unlikely Arrivals along with Nina Zurier, Susan Martin, and Bill Berkson at 2nd Floor Projects, San Francisco.
